Who am i to understand?
Because I’ve lived a double life myself. I was a company director. On paper, everything looked great, but behind the scenes, the demands, pressure, and responsibility were relentless. Like many men in business, I’d push hard all day, then numb out at night.
For over a decade, I was caught up in alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and food. I kept functioning. I kept showing up. I told myself it was “just to take the edge off,” but deep down, I knew I was burning the candle at both ends and heading for trouble.
I’m not saying this from a textbook. I’m saying it from experience. I’ve overcome those addictions, not by hiding from life, but by changing what was driving me.
